Product FAQs
What is Teamalak 2 Pack High Performance Marine Varnish?
This varnish is primarily used for protecting and finishing wooden surfaces on boats, yachts, and other marine applications. It provides a durable, glossy finish that is resistant to harsh weather, saltwater, and UV exposure.
What does "2 Pack" mean?
"2 Pack" refers to the varnish being a two-component system, consisting of a base component (varnish) and a hardener. These components must be mixed together before application to initiate the chemical reaction that cures the varnish into a tough, protective coating.
How should I mix the components of Teamalak 2 Pack Marine Varnish?
The components should be mixed together with a electric paddle, It’s important to mix thoroughly to ensure a consistent blend, which will help achieve optimal curing and performance. After mixing, the varnish has a limited pot life and should be used within that timeframe.
Can I use Teamalak 2 Pack Marine Varnish on surfaces other than wood?
Yes, it can be used on other surfaces like metal or fiberglass, provided that the appropriate primer is used and the surface is properly prepared.
What is the drying time for this varnish?
Typically, it will be touch-dry in 4 hours, but full curing can take several days. Recoating can be done after 6-8 hours.
How many coats of Teamalak 2 Pack Marine Varnish should be applied?
Usually, 2-3 coats are recommended to achieve a high-quality finish. Each coat should be allowed to dry completely before applying the next one, with light sanding between coats to promote adhesion.
How do I prepare the surface before applying the varnish?
The surface should be clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, and old varnish. Sanding the surface lightly can help the varnish adhere better.
What are the safety precautions when using this varnish?
Adequate ventilation is crucial because the varnish contains isocynates. The appropriate health and safety precautions should be taken and users are required to do an online course. Below is a link to the website where these can be accessed: https://isopa-aisbl.idloom.events/?lang=en
How do I clean tools after using Teamalak 2 Pack Marine Varnish?
Tools should be cleaned immediately after use with P101 Brushwash. Once cured, the varnish is much harder to remove.
Can I apply Teamalak 2 Pack Marine Varnish over existing varnish?
It can't be applied over existing varnish unless it is a previous 2 pack varnish. If it is and the previous 2 pack varnish is in good condition, well-adhered, and properly sanded to create a 'key' and it is a clean surface this will work. However, testing for compatibility and adhesion on a small area first is recommended.
How long does the varnish last?
When properly applied and maintained, Teamalak 2 Pack Marine Varnish can provide long-lasting protection and durability in marine environments. The lifespan will depend on exposure conditions and the level of maintenance, such as reapplication of coats as needed.
Is this varnish suitable for use indoors?
While it can be used indoors, it is primarily designed for outdoor and marine use. If used indoors, ensure the area is well-ventilated to avoid exposure to fumes.
