Product FAQs
Product FAQs
What is Teamac Marine Gloss?
Teamac Marine Gloss is a high-gloss, marine-grade paint
designed for use on boats and marine structures above the waterline. It provides a durable and attractive finish while protecting surfaces from the harsh marine environment.
Wondering whether standard exterior paint is suitable for marine environments? Read our comparison guide.
What surfaces can Teamac Marine Gloss be applied to?
It can be applied to wood, metal, and GRP (Glass Reinforced
Plastic) surfaces, making it versatile for various marine applications.
How should the surface be prepared before applying Teamac
Marine Gloss?
Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from any
contaminants such as grease, oil, and old flaky paint. Sanding the surface to create a smooth, even base is also recommended but this will also provide a ‘key’ for adhesion
Can Teamac Marine Gloss be applied over existing paint?
Yes, it can be applied over existing paint as long as the
previous coating is sound and well-adhered. Any loose or peeling paint should be removed, and the surface should be lightly sanded to promote adhesion.
What colours are available for Teamac Marine Gloss?
This enamel is available in a wide range of colours, see colour card for options. We can also tint this product to RAL, BS and NCS Colours.
What tools are needed for application?
You can apply Teamac Marine Gloss using a brush, roller, or
spray equipment. Brushes and rollers are commonly used for smaller areas and detail work, while spray equipment is suitable for larger surfaces.
How many coats are recommended?
Typically, two coats are recommended for the best finish and
protection.
How long does it take for each coat to dry?
Drying times can vary based on environmental conditions, but
generally, it takes around 4 hours for each coat to dry to the touch. Hard dry is 12 hours and full curing can take between 5 to 7 days. Overcoating should be at least 12 hours.
How long does Teamac Marine Gloss last?
With proper application and maintenance, Teamac Marine Gloss
can provide several years of protection and a high-gloss finish. The longevity depends on the exposure to elements and wear and tear.
Is Teamac Marine Gloss UV resistant?
Yes, Teamac Marine Gloss has good UV resistance, helping to maintain its colour and gloss over time, even when exposed to sunlight.
How can I maintain the finish?
Regular cleaning with mild detergents and water will help
maintain the gloss and appearance. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or tools that might scratch the surface.
